These ATMs are called “Forex Machines” and allows users to cash out these international currencies only;and for the following currencies only: USD, EUR, GBP, KWD, and SAR. CIB ATMs prominent branches in Cairo (Zamalek, New Cairo) and Alexandria.

3. Banque Misr (MS) ATM

Upon arriving at any international airport in Egypt, you will be required to purchase a $25 USD entry visa on a counter. The money will be charged in USD and on the same counter where the visa is purchased, you can also exchange your foreign currency for Egyptian Pounds and Egyptian Pounds to Dollars or any other foreign currencies.

Foreign currency exchange can also be done at any Exchange Offices in Egypt. However, you must have an international passport or VISA document to convert your money at exchange offices in Egypt.

Does Credit Cards work in Egypt?

Credit Cards like American Express, Visa Card and Discovery Card are widely accepted in the United States (US) and some western countries like United Kingdom (UK). But in Egypt, it’s not widely accepted at the ATMs or point-of-sales (POS) entries.

Nevertheless, you could be able to use Credit Card at international hotel chains like Marriott and Hilton, many boutique or smaller hotels (confirm in advance), sit-down restaurants catering to tourists, and fast-food chains like McDonald’s and Pizza Hut.
