Kuda Bank is a prominent digital bank in Nigeria. The bank is classified among the active online banks offering a simple savings accounts to Nigerians. Due to this functionality, many users believe that Kuda should have a USSD code.
Well, the bank does have a USSD banking service but it is not meant for transferring from Kuda Bank Account to another bank account in Nigeria. The Kuda USSD is a means of going cashless and cardless via ATM and POS. It can also be used to add money from supported banks like GTBank to Kuda Account.

What is Kuda USSD Code?
A USSD code is often used in banking as a convenient way for account holders to perform various financial transactions on their bank account without internet connection through their mobile devices by dialing specific short numeric codes.
But Kuda USSD Code has not fully support all these features. The Kuda USSD Code is a shortcode that allows Kuda Account holders to go cardless on any POS terminal in Nigeria. The Kuda USSD also works for adding money from another bank account in Nigeria to Kuda account.
As of now, however, Kuda Bank does not yet offer a dedicated USSD code for personal banking services. Most of Kuda's banking functions are available exclusively through its mobile app, which is designed to provide a full range of banking services. The USSD banking it's offering is limited.
How to Activate Kuda USSD Code
Follow these steps to activate USSD banking on the Kuda App:
- Login to your Kuda Bank App.
- Tap "Menu" and click on "Payment".
- Click on "Pay With USSD"
Now, you can select between "Pay With USSD for Cardless POS Payments" or "Pay With Bank to make online payments locally without a card". Once you are done, the Kuda App will redirect you to your phone where the USSD code will be dialed.
How to Use Kuda USSD Code
Here are what you can do with Kuda Bank USSD code:
1. Add Money to Kuda Account
You can use the Kuda USSD code to add money from banks like GTBank, First Bank, Wema Bank, Zenith Bank, and Access bank. To add money to Kuda Account using USSD code,
- Login to your Kuda Bank Account via App.
- Click on "Add Money" on the Kuda App Homepage.
- Under the "Add Money" page, click on "Add By USSD" and input the "Amount" you wish to add.
- Choose the bank in which you're adding the funds from. Supported Nigerians Banks include; First Bank, GTBank, Access Bank, WEMA Bank, Polaris Bank and Zenith Bank.
- Upon selection of Bank and Amount, Kuda will generate a USSD Code that tally with the selected bank's USSD Code. Click on "Continue" to dial the generated USSD and follow the prompts on your screen.
Ensure the Kuda generated code is dialed on the phone number registered with the bank account which the money expected to be transferred from. If you don't own the account, once Kuda generate you the USDD code, you can send the code to your recipient to dial on his or her phone.
Manually, to add money to a Kuda account from various banks in Nigeria, you can use the following USSD codes: for First Bank, dial *894*amount*Kuda account number#; for GT Bank, dial *737*5*0*amount*416#; for Wema Bank, dial *945*Kuda account number*amount#; and for Zenith Bank, dial *966*amount*Kuda account number#.
2. POS Cardless Payment/Withdrawal
The Kuda USSD can also be used to withdraw cash at any POS terminal nationwide. Here's how to use it:
- Generate Cardless Payment Code: To generate this code, login to your "Kuda App" and navigate to the "Payments". Under the "Payments Section", choose "Cardless Payment" as your mode of payment and enter "Amount". Enter your "Kuda transaction PIN" and a Cardless PIN with USSD code will be generated for you. This code can be used on Merchant's POS terminal to make payment and upon approval of the transaction, the funds will be deducted from your Kuda Account.
- Dial the Generated USSD Code: You don't need to remember the generated Cardless PIN. When you gets to any POS terminal where you want to carry out the cardless payment, just dial the generated Kuda USSD code and the Cardless PIN will pop up. You can then use it on POS terminal to make payment or withdraw.
Don't forget to show the transaction receipt (it'll be inform of SMS confirmation) to the merchant or POS agent as proof of payment. Lastly, you can use Kuda USSD code without ATM Card to withdraw at any POS in Nigeria and the how can be done has been explained above.
Here are what you cannot do with Kuda Bank USSD code:
- You cannot transfer money from Kuda to another bank account in Nigeria using USSD Code.
