Although the list of countries using OPAY is Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Pakistan, Uganda, Tanzania, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, Mexico and China. But it doesn’t mean OPay can be used to receive money from these countries to OPay account in Nigeria.

In fact, OPay is a mobile money operator in Nigeria and it cannot dollars or any foreign currency. However, there was a time OPay and Worldrimit partnered to provide international mobile money transfer (IMMT) services to OPay users in Nigeria.

This service only works by send South African Rand (ZAR) through WorldRemit and choose OPAY as beneficiaries bank in Nigeria. When the money is sent, a destination OPAY account number will be entered and amount in ZAR will be inputted.

WorldRemit will process the payment and pay the equivalent amount of the ZAR sent to the designated OPay Account in Naira. In this way, OPAY doesn’t receive money directly from South Africa and cannot receive South African Rand into it wallet.

OPAY account is only denominated with Nigerian Naira and can only transfer and receive funds from any bank in Nigeria with Nigerian Naira.

No, OPAY cannot be used to receive money from South Africa. In other words, OPAY cannot accept South African Rand (ZAR) into it wallet, as the digital wallet is designed to receive and store Naira only in Nigeria.

No, OPAY cannot receive money from other countries. The operating Licence it received from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is known as Mobile Money Operator (MMO).

Despite OPAY's large numbers of users in Nigeria, the fintech currently has no plan to obtain an international mobile money transfer (IMMT) operating licence. So, OPAY is only focusing on Nigerians and Nigeria at large.

Can OPAY Receive Dollars?

OPAY can neither receive United State Dollars (USD) nor South African Rands (ZAR) in Nigeria. The app can only be used to receive Nigerian Naira (NGN).

How To Open OPAY Dollar Account?

OPAY doesn't offer a domiciliary account in any way. You can only create a Nigeria savings account and a business account using OPay Mobile App and OPay Business App respectively.
